🍜VEGAN FOOD ADVENTURES with Raw Chef Yin - Berjaya Cafe🍜
We were one of the recipients at the award ceremony of the D’ Vegan Academy so we decided to have lunch first at Berjaya Cafe since we didn’t want to wait till afternoon only to have the buffet.
Also, since KindMeal.my has a meal deal and we could get 10% off the dishes, we thought we’d try it out.
Berjaya Cafe is fully vegetarian and their vegan options are clearly marked.
Initially I wanted to try the Vege Soto Ayam Berempah but we ended up really hungry as we were earlier at Lake Gardens and then Lalaport so we went for the following instead:
1. Asian Olive Fried Rice RM21
2. Asian Curry Laksa RM19 with flat noodles (request for no eggs and go for the rice noodles)
The Asian Curry Laksa isn’t labelled vegan as it has eggs but they said they could make it without the eggs. Unfortunately, when the laksa came out, there were eggs in it so they had to take it back. They confirmed that the milk used in the laksa is coconut milk and not dairy milk. To be honest, this laksa was on the bland side.
I quite enjoyed the olive fried rice. But since I don’t cook with oil anymore, it felt quite oily for me.
It felt like quite a long wait before we got our dishes. The Olive Fried Rice came out first and we finished it and still had to wait for quite a bit before the laksa arrived.
The lady serving us didn’t seem very knowledgeable and every time we asked a question, she had to refer to her colleague for an answer.
Later, we got to eat from the Vegetarian and Vegan buffet. Too bad the vegan dishes aren’t labelled properly so we had to guess or ask to clarify.
The buffet was actually quite nice. We enjoyed the yam rice, curry and roti canai. Unfortunately the potato curry that came with the roti canai had ghee but the mutton curry was vegan friendly.
Lots of fresh fruit and also salad ingredients so there wasn’t a shortage of raw veggies and fruits.
I don’t think the cakes were vegan. But they did have ais kacang 🙂
Sorry I forgot to take photos of the buffet as I was too busy enjoying it. Hehe.
