I was recently invited to sample the new menus of The Ganga Cafe and Barat Lifestyle Vegetarian Restaurant. Both are situated next to each other, and under the same management too. Got to try out so many dishes, that I’m sharing just The Ganga experience first!
🌱First photo, clockwise starting from top left: a) Baingan Ka Bharta, a mildly spiced mashed eggplant, b) Sorghum chapati, c) Sarson Ka Saag, a blend of mixed local green leafy veggies, d) Missi Roti, coloured with turmeric, and in the centre, e) Dhal Takhda
🌱Second photo: Ragi Dosa
🌱Third photo: Meeta’s Special Chaat, a cold salad made of potato and chickpeas
🌱Verdict: Nothing too sharp nor shockingly spicy. Rich, creamy textures, simple yet tasty breads combined with thoughtful combinations of natural plant-based flavors. The Dhal was a tad on the salty side, but had a thickness that could have only been achieved with patience and love. I was surprised that most of the items served were gluten-free. A very satisfying experience at The Ganga, and I look forward to trying out more of the menu in future visits.
