Sprouting is literally life! Through trial and error I’ve been experimenting with different seeds and grains to see which would sprout at the same rate, and I think this combination of tricolour quinoa, mung bean and sunflower seed is a winner.
Sprouting helps to break down anti-nutrients - substances that get in the way of nutrient absorption and naturally occurs in the plant kingdom as a defense mechanism. Sprouting makes seeds and grains a lot more more digestible and unlocks heaps of nutrients that we otherwise have limited access to. Studies are showing that sprouting increases protein content too. Amazing how much change happens in a small jar within 24 hours!
To sprout your own jar,
🌱Fill up 1/3 jar with grains and seeds of choice. Cover mouth of jar with cheesecloth and fix tightly with rubber bands. 🌱Fill jar with clean water and allow seeds and grains to soak for 8 hours. 🌱Drain water, allow jar to rest upside down and diagonally for water to continue to drain, rinse jar every four hours. Depending on your choice of seeds and grains, sprouting normally takes between 1-4 days.
I’m on a 3-day papaya cleanse at the moment and can’t wait to sprinkle these babies on salad when I’m done!
