A breakfast instantly elevated with homemade chunky applesauce. Amazing with granola or overnight oats, over ice cream, biscuits, toast, or even on its own! Great healthy snack option for kids. Making it plain with just apples and blending that into a puree gives you an instant egg replacement for baking too.⠀ ⠀ This recipe also works with guava, pear and pineapple.⠀ ⠀ 15 MINUTE CHUNKY APPLESAUCE⠀ ⠀ 🌱4 small apples⠀ 🌱 3 tsp brown sugar⠀ 🌱 1 tsp ground cinnamon⠀ 🌱 1 tbsp fresh lime / lemon juice⠀ 🌱 1/2 cup water⠀ 🌱 1 - 1.5 tbsp arrowroot powder⠀ ⠀ Remove cores from apples and cut into small pieces. Put into a pot together with half the portion of water (1/8 cup), lime juice, cinnamon and sugar and bring to medium heat. Once the water bubbles bring the the heat down and allow mixture to simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. In a separate cup, mix the remaining water with the arrowroot powder and set aside. In the final minute of cooking, pour in arrowroot mixture and stir through evenly. Remove from heat and serve immediately. Can be kept in the fridge for up to a week and eaten cold.
