Steamed Crystal Dumplings - one of the classic dim sum 🥟 Crystal dumplings got its name from its almost translucent crystal looking skin after being steamed. The filling is often shrimp which become red when cooked. A good wrapper should be thin and translucent that allow you to see through the filling. In Mandarin, we called that 白里透红 (bai li tou hong) white touched with red. This is one of the most challenging recipes I have ever made. I failed so many times until I got it right. Wrapping them takes lots of practice, too. But nevertheless, it was satisfying to see the end result! Also, I am very proud to say that there's no mock meat in this! 😋 I made the filling with tempeh, mushrooms and carrot instead.
