Healthy Milo Dinosaur (raw vegan) by #RawChefYin.
So much talk about Milo these days in Malaysia I decided to develop a raw vegan version which is healthy and guilt-free!
This is Version 1.0. I've decided today that I'm going to share recipes which are still work in progress because there's no need to wait for the perfect recipe. Plus I'd be happy if others want to take it and improve it. What do you guys think? Would you like to see recipes that are still in test mode? I'll share Version 2 as I go along. Let me know ya!
INGREDIENTS 1 cup fresh coconut water or filtered water ¼ cup cashew nuts 3 Medjool dates, pitted and caps removed (adjust sweetness level accordingly) 1 tablespoon cacao powder ½ teaspoon maca powder
Ice cubes 1 tablespoon cacao powder for topping
METHOD Blend water, cashews, dates cacao and maca in a high-speed blender till smooth. I actually used my Shimono blender. Pour into glass. Add in ice cubes. Top with cacao powder. Enjoy!
NOTES The maca powder made it taste a bit malty like how Milo is supposed to be like. Dates add a natural sweetness to the drink without having to use refined sugar. If you feel Medjool dates are too expensive, go with any other dates. The cheap ones tend to be a bit dry so just soak them a bit in water and you're good to go. Organicule Superfoods is a great place to get affordable cacao powder and maca powder. Or you can use pure cocoa powder if you don't need it to be fully raw.
Possible to use almond milk. I think brazil nuts or macadamia nuts would also be great in place of cashews. And if you're extra hardworking, make ice cubes using nut milk for extra creaminess.
For extra extravagance, top with raw vegan cacao nibs. You could also make a raw vegan whipped cream out of coconut flesh and cashew nuts to turn it onto a Milo Godzilla.
Feel free to share this!
