VEGAN FOOD ADVENTURES - KIKUBARI at DC Mall!
I was looking for somewhere interesting in KL to celebrate my birthday and since I love Japanese food, we looked around to see where we could have Japanese vegan food. Since we saw that @spiritofdiyana had eaten at Nobu KL, we called up Nobu to see what they could offer us. After all, their menu online said that we could inform the serves of any dietary requirements. Unfortunately Nobu KL’s response was rather disappointing, they said they couldn’t tell us what vegan dishes could be offered and to just turn up on that day and the server would recommend something. Az had a long conversation with them and in the end we just gave up. 😔
I saw on Kikubari’s website this “We can accommodate some dietary restrictions within reason, due to the nature of the food we serve. Kindly let us know in advance of your visit and we will gladly do our best to fulfil your needs. “ Plus they had quite a number of plant-based ie vegetarian dishes clearly marked on their menu so I wrote to them asking whether they would veganise some of the dishes for us.
They were quick to get back to me and also gave me a call to confirm what I could eat. Here’s what they recommended:
1. Enoki chips without gobo cream RM22 2. tofu ‘cheese’. house-made tsukemono. crackers RM36 3. nut butter roasted cauliflower. cauliflower cream. sage oil RM36 4. japanese fruit tomato and wakame salad. sherry dressing RM33 5. Grilled asparagus
Thank you so much Chef Jun and team for accommodating our needs and big thanks to Restaurant Manager Hafriz for taking such good care of us. 🙏💚
