3 FERMENTATION AIDS you can use to culture your RAW VEGAN CHEESE (which are not probiotic powders) 🧀💚
If you’ve made cultured vegan cheese before, you most probably used probiotic powder from probiotic capsules.
I used to do that too when I first started out making vegan cheese a few years ago.
However, these days I don’t. To be honest, I’m sometimes a “cheapskate” 😅 and probiotic capsules are getting super expensive in Kuala Lumpur. So I’ve been using much more affordable fermentation aids to culture my sunflower seeds to turn them into cheese. Some cost only a few cents!
Apart from saving money, I also enjoy experimenting with different fermentation aids to see what flavours develop in my cultured raw vegan cheeses.
Below are some of them:
1. Water kefir grains
2. Kombucha
3. Miso (make sure you get the right kind!)
(For those who subscribed to my eNewsletter, you get 5 recommendations😁)
There are a lot more, of course.
I list all 12 fermentation aids for raw vegan cheese in my Nut-Free, Oil-Free, Soy-Free, Dairy Free Raw Vegan Cheese course.
