Meet Bhima, A Gyr Ox Who Has Lived At Sasha Farm Animal Sanctuary Since August O..
Meet Bhima🐃, a Gyr Ox who has lived at SASHA Farm Animal Sanctuary since August of 2013. Bhima was intended to pull a plow on a farm when he grew up. The owner of the farm sold the property to a man who wanted to grow crops and who did not want Bhima. Unable to find another farm to place Bhima, the owner agreed to surrender Bhima and his brother Dharma to SASHA. Sadly, Dharma passed away a few months after arriving due to chronic pneumonia. Bhima has flourished and is loved by all. Due to an infection behind his horns, Bhima's horns had to be removed in a difficult and rare operation at the MSU Veterinary Hospital in East Lansing, MI. Bhima was born in November of 2010 and weighs about 2000 pounds. His name means "tremendous."
Bhima is an animal ambassador for this years VegWeek, which runs from April 18th to the 24th. Sign up to participate:
