BREAKING NEWS: The Animal Sentience Bill has just passed its final Parliamentary hurdle and UK law will soon recognise that animals have feelings. This landmark progress is certainly cause for celebration! 🎉

The Animal Welfare (Sentience) Bill [HL] would enshrine the recognition of the sentience of vertebrate animals in domestic law. It would also establish an animal sentience committee that would report on whether government policymaking considers that animals are sentient beings capable of feeling emotions and experiencing pain.

We've been campaigning for this crucial legal protection since 2019 as part of the Better Deal For Animals coalition, an alliance of 50 of the UK’s leading animal protection organisations.
