Animal Equality Joins The Brazil Senate Self-control Bill Debate

Animal Equality is continuing its efforts to ❌ STOP ❌ Brazil's Self-Control Bill!

On Monday, Animal Equality participated in a debate at Brazil's Senate to oppose the Self-Control Bill. If passed, government inspections of slaughterhouses would end, allowing the meat industry to regulate itself. This will put 7 billion animals at risk of crueler slaughter and public health at risk for food-borne illnesses.

Animal Equality's Executive Director of Brazil, Carla Lettieri spoke about these concerns at the debate as a continuation of our efforts to stop this harmful initiative. With supporters by our side and a coalition of animal, environmental and public health protection organizations, the bill has been paused pending further debate. We will continue to fight until this harmful bill is gone for good. ✊🐮
