The American Heart Association (AHA) states that their “Heart Check” mark makes it easy to spot heart-healthy foods and beverages in the grocery store.” Despite the science being clear that eating meat contributes to a wide array of health complications, including cancer and heart disease, the AHA has been giving its “Heart Check” certification mark to certain meat products in exchange for a fee.
Animal Outlook has brought a lawsuit against the AHA that argues that this pay-to-play labeling of beef products as “heart healthy” goes against their stated mission of helping people “build healthier lives free of cardiovascular disease and stroke” and against their own science.
