How to Keep a Bear in Your House
How to Keep a Bear in Your House
Ever see a picture online that spoke to you in such a way that you wished it would just come to life and hang out in your living room? If you have, graphics artist Wolfram Kampffmeyer can relate. A computer animator from Stuttgart, Germany, Kampffmeyer fashions his sculptures from paper to look like the renderings he sees on his monitor.
Saying of his creations, “Since I love to create 3D models, it’s even better to build them afterwards for real -- out of paper.”
His models are reminiscent of a computer rendering, typically a single colour with a fairly pixelated feel due to the folded paper process used to bring them to life. For some reason, however, this doesn’t detract in any way from their life-like appearance. In fact, it gives them just a hint of whimsy, which makes them simultaneously cute and compelling to look at.
The good news for all of us is that we don’t have to be computer animators to have these awesome works of art in our own homes. Kampffmeyer has made the templates, along with detailed instructions, available here and here through his online business, Paperwolf. All you need is glue, scissors and some time for assembly. Spatial sense, crafting ability and patience sold separately.
Mr. Kampffmeyer's creations are a humane way to keep a rhino in your living room. For humane dining ideas, see what's on promotion this week on http://KindMeal.my
