For all of us who have ever struggled on a diet, cake has often been the cause of our demise. Maybe it's because we usually get our first taste of cake at our first birthday, which indelibly links this treat in our mind with happy memories.
Cake, when made well, is simply delicious all on its own, but when you add frosting, fillings, toppings, and the psychological impact of years of happy memories centred around cake, it's no wonder that most people simply can't seem to resist a slice when it's offered to them. And of course some gifted cake decorators cater to the animal-loving crowd...
