When news first broke that Tracey and Jon Stewart (formerly of The Daily Show) were opening their own branch of Farm Sanctuary, we were over the moon, to say the least. The decision to start a sanctuary for farm animals was largely Tracey’s as she always dreamed of caring for animals, and it wasn’t long until Jon was on board, too.
Now, after a year of planning and preparation, the Stewarts are finally ready to introduce their first official piggy residents, Anna and Maybelle. These two cuties were rescued after falling off a truck on the highway. Destined for slaughter, Anna and Maybelle would have never had a chance to live if not for this accident. While it was lucky that they escaped their initial fate, it was even more so that they ended up getting adopted by the Stewarts.
The Stewart’s farm is set to open in Spring of 2017, and we cannot wait to meet the other animal residents! As you watch Anna and Maybelle and imagine their fate had they not fallen from the truck, do you think it might be time to cut pork from your diet? It's not so hard!
