WELCOME Jaya!
WELCOME Jaya!
We are delighted to introduce you all to Jaya Bhumitra, Animal Equality’s International Director of Corporate Outreach.
Jaya has a bachelor's in international business and marketing and master's in psychology. She joined the animal protection movement after five years with a global public affairs firm, serving multinational clients and trade associations in addition to helping to establish the company’s operations in India.
As Director of Corporate Outreach for Mercy For Animals, Jaya led negotiations with Perdue Foods, one of the largest poultry producers in the U.S., securing a precedent-setting commitment from the company to improve animal protection. She also helped convince seven of the top 25 U.S. grocers, including Safeway and Kroger, to eliminate cruel cages for egg-laying hens.
Previously, as Campaigns Director for Compassion Over Killing, Jaya oversaw Los Angeles City Council's adoption of a Meatless Monday resolution and led the successful campaign to introduce vegan options at Subway, the largest restaurant franchise in the world.
Jaya is a vegan and lives in Los Angeles with her partner Christopher Locke, an author and fellow animal advocate. Thumbs up for Jaya!
