Ducky Bruce Grooms Piggy Jasmine
A relaxing day at the Duck Spa...
Life for farm animals is rarely as idyllic and relaxing as we imagine it to be. Most animals are not allowed to roam freely in open fields, but are raised in factory farms where they are subjected to endless pain and fear until the day they are sent to become food. But a few lucky ones are rescued from this terrible fate by farm animal sanctuaries. These sanctuaries offer animals a refuge where they are free to live as nature intended and are treated like individuals, not commodities.
Bruce, the duck, and Jasmine, the piglet, are two very fortunate farm animals who were saved by Catskill Animal Sanctuary. Pigs are very emotional and curious creatures, so it took Jasmine no time at all to build up a whole following of playmates, and she's clearly revelling in Bruce's grooming efforts.
When we see animals interacting in this way, we realise that they are sentient, emotional beings. They experience enjoyment, affection, fear and pain just as we do.
