A Surfing Heron?
It looks quite impressive until you see the bird's secret.
Calling all avid surfers – the heron knows the new and improved way to Hang 10 for all eternity. Simply head on over to South Africa, preferably around Kruger National Park, and make friends with a hippo.
While hippo-surfing is not a recommended pastime for humans, this heron seems to love his joy-ride down the river. The hippo-and-heron relationship is not uncommon in South Africa, although the reasoning behind it is still unclear.
One hypothesis suggests the heron has the best vantage point for catching fish while standing on the hippo. As for the hippo, maybe it’s like a masseuse walking on his back…?
