Animals vs Mirror
Looking good, there, mate...
We check ourselves out in the mirror nearly every day, but we are among the few animals in the world that recognize that the reflection is ours. “Self-recognition” actually requires a lot of complex cognitive coordination. For many years it was believed that humans were the only animals with this ability; however, we have since learned that dolphins, elephants, and chimpanzees can self-recognse, too. Other animals relate to the reflections in mirrors in different ways -- dogs, for example, can recognize other dogs in a mirror, but they can’t tell that the dog staring at them is, well, them.
So, when a French photographer set up a mirror in the middle of the Gabon jungle, he knew he’d be in for some pretty interesting reactions from the forests’ many animals. You’ll have to watch the video to witness the pricelessness that ensues, but who knew looking in a mirror could be so entertaining?
And what about us? What do we see when we look in the mirror? A compassionate person who loves animals? If that's the person you want to see looking back at you, take a look at http://KindMeal.my. We have lots of fantastic plant-based meals that you can feel proud (and happy!) to eat.
