You've got it partially right. It's made of soya bean paste & dehydrated veges & seasonings. Using the Japanese method of preserving it thru vacuum pack, these are Japanese instant miso soup. Just add in hot water & it will dissolve & you will get real seaweeds, sesame seeds, carrot cubes & etc. The original size is small compact & light almost like a chicken stock cube.

Ate these during the recent Japanese fair in One Utama. My friend bought 3 packets. As for me, I bought the real miso paste.. (coz. aunty is like tht. LOL, I still prefer adding in my own fresh veges & fresh soup).
